2018 C&ESAR CONFERENCE : ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND CYBERSECURITY
The recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI) , especially in Machine Learning, will revolutionize numerous domains. Cybersecurity, in its broad meaning (software, material, network), already takes advantage of these advances, whether it is in phases of design or analysis, or to defend an expanded system.
These intelligent systems can be the target of new classes of attacks which aim at deceiving them or at influencing their behavior. Besides, the frequent lack of “explicability " of decision-making, and the difficulty of analyzing their behavior, can present a risk for the systems which integrate them and slow down their adoption.
The 2018 edition of the C&ESAR conference focuses on these two aspects: the contributions of artificial intelligence to cybersecurity, and the security risks specific to artificial intelligence.
This will be the 25th edition of the C&ESAR days, organized every year since 1997 by the Ministry of the Armed Forces: a symposium dedicated to cybersecurity, bringing together governmental, industrial and academic actors. This event has two objectives, scientific and operational, by bringing together experts, researchers, practitioners and decision-makers for a three-day overview of a particular subject. The chosen theme is approached from both an operational and theoretical perspective, with a pronounced didactic dimension to help professionals from different sectors share a common understanding of often complex problems.
